Leaders & Members

Silent Grove Baptist Church is an elder-led, deacon-served, congregational church.

Elders – Shepherds Who Lead & Feed

Our church is led by a group of men called elders, which is a biblical term used to describe pastors, shepherds, and overseers (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-5). These men are appointed by the members to teach God’s word, pray, provide pastoral care, equip members for ministry, and oversee the work of the church.

Staff Elders/Pastors

Terry Irwin – Lead Pastor

Deacons – Servants Who Support & Unify

Our church is served by a group of individuals called deacons, who are appointed by the members to help meet physical and practical needs, organize acts of service, preserve unity, and support the work of the elders (Acts 6:1-7, 1 Timothy 3:8-13).

Deacons

Randy Apon, Travis Ellis, & Matt Gumm

Covenant Membership – Saints Who Worship & Work

Our church is made up of members who commit to live out the values of our church, uphold our shared beliefs, and actively participate in the life of the church and the work of the ministry.  Just as our members commit to uphold our shared faith, they also commit to uphold our shared practice as a church. This commitment is essential to maintaining the strength and health of our church body and is outlined by our church covenant as seen below.

Silent Grove Baptist Church Covenant
As members, we covenant together according to the following statements:

  • We will strive to remain united in the Spirit.
  • We will love, encourage, counsel and admonish one another.
  • We will rejoice with each other and bear one another’s burdens and sorrows.
  • We will bear spiritual fruit, uphold high standards for personal holiness, and oppose conduct that would compromise our Christian witness.
  • We will seek to win others to Christ Jesus.
  • We will bring up those under our care in the training and instruction of the Lord.
  • We will pray continually and earnestly for others and ourselves.
  • We will assemble faithfully for worship and fellowship.
  • We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry and to missions.
  • We will, when we move from this place, unite with another church where we can continue in the spirit of this covenant.
